Software Test Analyst

Do you have the experience and ambition to join one of our highly collaborative agile teams? If so, you will be performing testing procedures on the application software; analysing requirements, writing and executing test plans, test scripts, and supporting documentation to provide confidence that the product software functions according to expectations. Our test execution is performed manually and using automation where applicable, with the automation scripts being created and executed using an existing scripting tool. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform manual testing duties on web-based applications

  • Perform basic automation testing with Selenium WebDriver (C#)

  • Design and create manual and automated test scripts and contribute to regression packs 

  • Execute test scripts, either manually or using automation, to test each software component and demonstrate the business condition under test and the expected results

  • Record test outcomes and log and prioritise any faults/defects found

  • Work with an Agile methodology, helping to maintain and improve processes

  • Proactively engage with all members of a self-organising, highly collaborative Agile team to ensure work is carried out in accordance with requirements

  • Work with Product Owners to create User Stories, using product knowledge to define the success criteria and to highlight potentially affected areas

  • Provide support to help investigate and resolve application issues across all environments, ensuring all relevant IS, business and third party personnel are made aware of progress and solutions 

  • Ensure that the highest quality and accuracy is maintained through each software release            

    Assist with improvements to software quality control processes

  • Provide support and informal training to colleagues by sharing knowledge, skills and experience

  • Progress self-development through study and/or investigation to supplement an agreed personal development plan

Person Specification

Essential

  • Extensive experience of software testing with a range of techniques and tools

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Excellent problem solving skills with an ability to think laterally

  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills and able to work as part of a team

  • Determined to deliver a quality solution

  • ISEB/ISTQB Foundation Certified or similar

  • Flexible and has willingness and ability to learn new skills quickly

Desirable

  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodology preferred

  • Automation testing experience eg Selenium or similar 

  • Background/experience in food related industry

  • Specific knowledge/experience of Muddy Boots software products
